"Broken For You" Process

This project started back in early October. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to spend this much time on a piece.  Three months might not be that long to some, but for a guy who’s used to turning several projects on a weekly basis, three months is an eternity.  

In November,  I reached a point where I felt this project was complete.  I believe it was more me trying to shelve it due to already spending a month on it. This is the beauty of personal projects, one can decide when it’s finished.  

The illustration is inspired by the last super of Christ, but more specifically the verse in 1 Corinthians 11:24, where He says "this is my Body which is broken for you."

This technique was heavily inspired by some of the geometric design that I've seen on the intrawebs and dribbble, but most heavily influenced by the work from http://www.dkngstudios.com/ , those guys are killing it.

Christmas Graphic On Creationswap

Christmas is a crazy season for most church creatives, if your under the gun and need some graphics check out some of the work avialable for purchase on creationswap.com.  There are several formats available from screen slides to large hi-res PSD files.  

 

Lion, Ox, and Lamb OH MY

It's another "normal" week at PVC.  Found out Monday morning that our office was going to be remodeled into a new nursery.  The new office they are setting up for us is going to be darker and further down the hall.  So I consider it it a win win.  

In the middle of all this I was reminded that we are starting a new series this weekend and hadn't heard anything on what it was about. Mitch soon filled me in on the details and gave me a graphic that one of the teaching pastors used before. I wanted to changed it up, but still keep at as close to the original concept, since that is what the pastor liked.

The series is going to be "Perspectives of Jesus" and keying in on some of the symbols used in describing Him such as the lion, lamb, ox and eagle.  

I've been wanting to created something with this particular style for a while.  I'm really happy how it turned out, I have to give some props to the design peeps (you know who you are) that gave me some needed critique and push.
